Xcursions — Designing One Connected ExperienceFor Your Travel Journey

Xcursions is a connected travel platform designed around a simple ambition: give travelers everything they need for a trip in one place.

Challenge

Travel shouldn't feel this fragmented.

Planning a trip sounds simple until the traveler actually begins.

A typical journey can require several different services:

one platform for flights, another for accommodation, another for activities, a government or third-party site for visas, another service for mobile data, a banking app for payments, spreadsheets or notes for planning, emails for confirmations and several apps for managing everything after booking.

The underlying challenge for Xcursions was therefore bigger than designing individual booking interfaces.

We had to design an ecosystem.

The product needed to support highly different activities—from discovering a destination to exchanging currencies—without making the application feel overloaded.

The context document identified several major pain points: travelers managing too many platforms and documents, the financial burden of paying for travel upfront, disconnected visa and local-experience bookings, repeated data entry, fragmented receipts, weak visibility across a trip and friction during checkout.

This created five core design challenges.

1. Feature complexity

Xcursions was not simply a flight or hotel application.

Its ecosystem included:

Travel

Flights | Hotels | Tours | Attractions | Events | Packages | Transfers

Travel Infrastructure

eVisa | eSIM | AI Planner

Financial Services

NGN Wallet | USD Wallet | Currency conversion | Virtual cards | Trip savings | Transactions | Refunds

Management

Bookings | Receipts | Travelers | Support | Notifications

All of these features needed to feel like parts of the same product.

Solution

One journey. One connected experience.

Our design approach centered Xcursions around one principle:

Every feature should help the traveler move forward.

Instead of organizing the product around internal business divisions, we organized the experience around what travelers were trying to accomplish.

The resulting mobile architecture was built around five primary destinations:

We designed Xcursions as one connected travel ecosystem, where users could move from discovery to planning, booking, payment and trip management without feeling like they were switching between different products. The experience brought together flights, stays, tours, events, packages, eVisa, eSIM, AI planning, wallets, virtual cards and trip savings under one consistent design system. The interface used clear navigation, modular cards, status indicators, progress tracking and familiar interaction patterns to make a complex platform feel straightforward.

Process

We started by mapping the full travel journey and grouping features around what users were actually trying to do: discover, plan, book, pay and manage. From there, we designed the core user flows for bookings, AI planning, wallet transactions, virtual cards, trip savings, visa applications and travel management. Reusable UI patterns were then created across the mobile app, responsive website, admin dashboard and transactional communications, allowing the product to scale without losing consistency. The focus throughout was simple: make a very broad travel platform feel like one seamless experience.
